Feeling 22!

I don't know about you, but I am FEELING 22.... I feel like every time I stand up, all of my bones decide to pop. Which always makes me crave popcorn, not a good pattern! 22 is ancient!  Oh but let me tell you about this crazy week, oh yes.

So we had a good start with the temple, then we got accused of stealing! It was great! All for helping move, something gets lost, it's the elders, so I got to spend a night in jail! It was great! Ok I lied, no jail. But we did get a police report, so now I'm trying to think of a good criminal duo nickname. Haven't got any yet... But I'll let you know! Also big exciting thing that happened this week was Gladys Knight came to our mission and we had a huge missionary effort on Friday!   It was great! I had no idea who she is, nor have I heard any of her songs! But while she was singing I did feel a sudden urge to pack up in the middle of the night and go to Georgia.... 🚂 No idea where that came from. She sang all of these gospel songs and people were standing up and clapping and shouting amen and hallelujah! It was great, did I mention it was in one of our chapels? Oh yeah, I wish church was like that sometimes.   But the way it is now is better. More spiritually in tune. There were tons of people there. It was pretty good, she brought a choir with her called Saints Unified Voices (SUV) there were some talented singers in that group! So that was really exciting! We had quite the adventure!

The rest of this week was good! We had an interview with el presidente. That was great.  He told me not to get trunky. But to be prepared to go home. I don't understand what that means. So I'm trying to do one without the other. It's working well so far!

Had some good lessons as well, John committed to pay the tithing, next we tackle the LOC ness monster. (The Law of Chastity, lovingly called Nessie) (by yours truly.) So we are excited to see him progress! He's doing really well!

So as time is winding down on the school year, I decided to leave you by  exhorting you not to forget what is Really important! And it's not games or Prom or summer or being with friends 24/7, that happiness lasts for a short time, true joy is found in keeping the commandments (one of which is educating yourself aka school) so keep them! It's better I promise, the other way ultimately destroys you. And being destroyed sucks, ask the titanic. Or the Zeppelin, or BYU, they should all be familiar with that.

Well I love all of you with all of my heart
❤️💙💛💜💚💝💘💓💗💟💞💖💞💕❣ see? All of them! Except the broken one.
I do have to tell you one good story!

So a member asked us (as usual) if I had a girl waiting for me! And I said of course! and it went like this
Me: yeah she's the best!
Member: what is she like?
Me: well she is a little shorter than me, she always tells me she
loves me, she likes Reese's, she sends me packages etc etc....
Member: ah! What's her name?
Me: Kelli,with an "I"
Member: ahhh.  are you going to get married
Me: ew no, she's already married.
Member: confused* wait what? Really?
Me: yeah you can't marry your mom... Geez
Member: 😑   Not funny. Not funny.
Me: hehehehehe

Love you Mom!

Thank you for loving your old Mom.  I needed your funny stories today!  I'm glad you've accepted your age! Well done!

At least my bones don't crack!  That is a really old old person! That's just hard work, I calculated that we do 90 hour work weeks.....

What are the newest injuries to your poor body? I stubbed my toe last night....

How is Edgar? Is he doing well?  Edgard gets the priesthood next week!

Did you feel the spirit this week?  Sure did.  When? At the Gladys knight fireside!

Temple Trip!

Temple trip! Boo yah!   3:45 am? boo! Spiritual? Yah! What does that equal? Boo yah, boo yah. So it was a good end to a long week!

It's hot, so therefore. I am not. Have you ever had a guy in a white shirt dripping sweat with helmet hair try to talk religion with you? It's not pretty. But nonetheless, we did have a good week! Some good people we talk to. John is doing really well! He's going to progress well. But life is never easy, oh no. Don't be deceived! We get so many trials, but they truly are blessing in disguise.

For Example:
It all started when I had to patch a tire for the third time in 2 days. After patching we road into the blistering sun. As my skin reddened and my lips cracked we pulled up to a massive hill. Massive hill. Massive. Literally every time I pass I call it satan. Worst thing. We get to the top, and bike back down after a cold hard rejection to the balmy triple digits. On the way down there is this man, with this wife/girlfriend. And they are not happy with each-other. No no. So as we pass, I say hello. All of the anger directed at each other now switches to us,  we are the reason their lives are hard. So they yell at us. But that's ok. Better broken bikes and  bruised pride than broken marriages and relationships, so if yelling insults at us is what brings them together, so be it. It is worth taking the brunt of the attack because behind them was their little boy playing with a light saber. And that little boy, deserves the same chance I got with parents who don't fight with each other. So if his parents need to yell at someone I will gladly take that. Besides. I don't even speak Spanish. So that was a blessing in disguise.

Now a funny story.

So, we are driving to the temple and we are going to be late, so when we finally get there they tell us five minutes until the session, so naturally I just hurry and fill out the slip to get the pants and tie and such, and I go and try to put them on. I say try because the pants were three sizes to small, but I prevailed, seams popping, skin tight white pants. And it's a good thing the white socks are long. It made me sit ramrod straight so I was very attentive. I have never been so happy to be in suit pants. Rough.

Oh well! Because it was all still ringing true! Ahh, the spirit is a wonderful companion, I suggest you keep him close. Not that I am a pro. But you know.

Love you all!

How is John?  Doing great
How is your finger? Still hurts

In my letter this week, I told Josh about our new bishopric that was put in on Sunday and about Jonathan getting his learners permit.

It's sad to hear that bishop stone is out but the new bishopric sounds like the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Anyways, speaking of weird, when did everybody start growing up? That is totally not cool. I'll send the weekly letter soon just responding to let you know today was temple day, my last one. Holy cow.... I'm coming home...... Anyways. Peace

Broken Finger

Well to explain the strange subject, it is because I am 98% sure that broke my finger. Now the real story being way to embarrassing I finally decided on a satisfactory one.

We were biking down a really busy street, and we saw a little family of ducks, we laughed at the wobbly steps of the little babies until suddenly, we heard a loud honking and it wasn't the ducks, it was a bus, full of terrified people, headed straight for my companion, and the ducks, the driver pumped the breaks but to no avail. I pedaled as hard as I could and sending a prayer to heaven launched myself off my bike, it careened into a parked Prius denting the hood horrendously. I rolled and shoved my companion, and the ducklings to safety, as the bus careened past it ran over my finger and slid to a stop. No one was harmed but me. So yeah, I've been dealing with repercussions of that. That's been

This week we set a baptismal date with a guy named John, he is the son of some members, he's pretty cool. He's like fifty something, they are old members. Anyway that's been really good to see.

Other than that nothing really exciting happened.

I guess the truth is that I broke my finger playing foursquare with a bunch of little human Mormons.  So yeah.

Anyway I love this gospel! It's been the only friend that is constantly one hundred percent always there for me, others have tried valiantly and I do appreciate them. But this Friend changes me. For the better hopefully.

Love you all with all my heart!

You're the best! Sure love you!

K bye!

P.s read the Book of Mormon. It helps. I promise.

Swollen broken finger
Did you find anyone to teach?   Yes we did!

Is it warming up?  It's getting warm

When did you feel the spirit this week? I felt it when we were talking about the baptism!

How is your health?  Is your body starting to feel the wear and tear of the last 20 something months? Mom, I am exhausted.

Really?    Yes,mom exhausted, but I have been sustained by the spirit I guess, my body is doing the best it can. "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak"

You sound like Grandpa Carter.  Are you still sleeping well? Good, he's a good man to sound like. Yeah, it's waking up that's the struggle.

Joe's Birthday Cake conversation
